Climate Change; How we get there

Both Duhigg and Mcibben have simliar ideas when it comes to social change. What Mcibben talks about  how the movement of climate change is becoming a reality. It is becoming a reality through strong and weak ties as the ideas behind climate change were started with Mcibben and a small group of undergraduates. They founded 350.org and have created a massive social movement throughout the world through weak ties. These groups fought for the ideas of that they identify with and across the globe these small groups got together to make the change they want known. These ideas for social change are similar but Mcibben has a different perspective on leaders of a movement. Mcibben states, “We may not need capital-L Leaders, but we certainly need small-l leaders by the tens of thousands. You could say that, instead of a leaderless movement, we need a leader-full one.” This is where Mcibben and Duhigg differ. Mcibben talks about how a movement in current times if sustained and driven my leaders of small groups throughout a movement and not by 1 leader who is leading the movement as a whole. So climate change prevention could be lead by one leader, or climate change prevention could be lead by leaders all over the world, making it a more respected and admired movement that leads to actual change.
